RCIL – Doing More for Kansans With Disabilities

On March 10, The Resource Center for Independent Living hosted a Legislative Breakfast to provide education to our elected state officials on Centers for Independent Living. RCIL’s Executive Director, Chad Wilkins explains how Centers for Independent Living save Kansas money and the amazing things RCIL is doing for Kansans with disabilities.

The following videos showcase our panel of consumer experts. We had four individual who have utilized services of RCIL and other Centers to achieve their Independent Living goals. Michelle Campbell is an Independent Living Specialist and Job Placement Specialist for RCIL, Carolyn Zapata is preparing to begin a position as a Transitional Living Skills Specialist with RCIL, Adam Burnett is the Director of Quality Assurance for Independent Living Services at RCIL, and Julia Thomas is the Executive Director of Kansas Youth Empowerment Academy.

Each of these individuals share how the community and services provided by Centers for Independent Living brought them to where they are today.

Mandy has worked at RCIL since June of 2009. She is a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist and provides services in 32 counties to individuals who are blind or have low vision and are 55 years and older.
