We Need 1 Republican!

Posted June 11, 2010 by Mandy Smith in

The US House of Representatives has passed a Jobs bill that does NOT contain the extension of FMAP (Federal Medicaid Assistance funding) that the KS state budget is relying on. This means a reduction in state Medicaid funding by 21% effective January 1, 2011. We need to ACT NOW and contact our Senators to let them know that the FMAP extension is necessary to continue Medicaid programs. The Senate can still act to reinstate the FMAP extension in the Jobs bill. Kansas is not alone, 29 other states also included this money in their budgets so this is a HUGE issue that will have Nationwide consequences for people with disabilities, children, and low income families.

If we can get one Republican Senator to vote YES on the Senate substitute amendment to the House Jobs bill we will get the FMAP extension passed and sent back to the House. BOTH Brownback and Roberts voted NO in the original Senate Bill that contained the FMAP extension. Please call them now and let them know how important it is to Kansas and to our nation.

From Kevin with KS ADAPT:
When you call you will probably get a staffer, tell him or her that you are calling to urge the senator to support including funding for state Medicaid programs in the American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act of 2010 (H.R. 4213).
