Family Strong – Southeast Kansas
Posted March 31, 2022 by Mandy Smith in Consumer Opportunities
Family Strong is a federally funded grant, led by the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare and Center for Public Partnerships and Research. Family Strong is designed to transform the child and family service system in Southeast Kansas. Family Strong’s intention is to provide all families in the Southeast Kansas region with a vast array of services to meet their needs, as to avoid crisis escalation and subsequent involvement with child protective services. The counties that the grant covers that they will take a family representative applications from are: Allen, Bourbon, Cherokee, Crawford, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho and Wilson.
Family Strong is seeking family members that are representative of the communities that will be served and Family Strong wants to compensate family and community experts accordingly. Engagement with family and community members with lived experience in all aspects of the project is needed.
Family Strong’s Steering Committee will be:
– Comprised of eight family member representatives from the Southeast Kansas region
– Begin in Spring of 2022
– Family Strong Family Representative Steering Committee Members will: Serve a 1 year term
– Be provided a $1,000 dollar stipend to offset costs associated with participating and to compensate members for their time
– Be asked to participate in monthly project Steering Committee meetings; and project evaluation/data collection activities as needed
